Nasser's legacy egypt

For a more recent and detailed account of this crisis, I recommend Guy Laron's The Six Day War: The Breaking of the Middle-East. I have made minor changes since it was written in 2015. This paper was written as part of an undergraduate course on the Arab Israeli conflict. It demonstrates that the war that marked the beginning of the fifty year long occupation and illegal settlement of Palestinian land was largely the result of a lack of coordination between Arab leaders and of increasing tensions between Nasser and General Amer who was eager to go to war against Israel.

This paper evaluates the extent to which Nasser managed to orchestrate a unified Arab position on the eve of the June 1967 War.
